TSN stands with artist ODEE and whistleblower Jóhannes Stefánsson
The Signals Network has joined a global call to defend artistic freedom, artist ODEE and whistleblower Jóhannes Stefánsson.
In 2019, Johannes blew the whistle on Icelandic fishing giant Samherji, revealing bribes paid to Namibian officials. His leaks, known as the Fishrot Files, led to major arrests and investigations.
ODEE responded through art. His project, We’re sorry, is a satirical piece that includes a fake corporate apology website and a mural displayed at the Reykjavík Art Museum. Instead of addressing the corruption, Samherji is targeting both the whistleblower and the artist who helped amplify the story.
Now, ODEE is appealing the court’s decision and we stand with him.
At TSN, we believe in protecting those who speak truth to power — whether through whistleblowing or art. Both are essential to keeping the public informed and holding the powerful accountable.
We’re proud to stand with ODEE and Jóhannes.
