From California Jails to Swiss Banks: The Fight for Truth

TSN Supported Whistleblower Victoria Flores Speaks Out in USA Today

Victoria Flores, a former Riverside County Sheriff’s Captain, courageously shared her story in USA Today about retaliation she faced after exposing wrongdoing she witnessed, including staff and policy failures related to an epidemic of jail deaths. In July 2025, she filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Chad Bianco and other senior officials for whistleblower retaliation, wrongful termination, civil rights violations and gender discrimination.

TSN is proud to support Victoria, providing legal and security support to her and her family as they navigate the unique challenges of blowing the whistle. Her case highlights the risks whistleblowers take and the critical need for their voices to be heard.

Switzerland Must Choose Press Freedom Over Bank Secrecy

Article 47 of Switzerland’s Banking Act can hold journalists and whistleblowers legally accountable for sharing client information, even when it serves the public interest. This has raised important questions about how the law balances privacy with the need for transparency, accountability and a free press.

Our Executive Director Delphine Halgand-Mishra and investigative journalist Frederik Obermaier explain why reform is urgently needed to protect democracy and accountability.

Talking Numbers

Imagine 390 people knocking on your door for help in just eight months. That’s what happened at TSN. While we don’t have a physical door (or welcome mat!), each request is a brave whistleblower asking for support and we managed to help 76 of them. That’s a lot of “virtual doorbells” ringing.

When whistleblowers reach us, they walk away with real, life-changing support thanks to our community. The only reason we can’t say “yes” more often is capacity. You can change that. Every gift allows us to say “yes” to another truth teller, giving them the protection, guidance and hope they need to speak out safely.
